Unprecedented heatwaves on the East Coast and Midwest of the United States have caused the temporary closure of the Great American State Fair at the National Mall in Washington D.C. Additionally, the July Fourth celebrations have been postponed. In excess of 165 million Americans are currently suffering from unprecedented heatwaves, with cities such as Washington D.C. and Philadelphia predicted to experience temperatures up to 106°F (41°C).
