Extreme Heat Disrupts America 250 Celebrations as 165 Million Face Record Temperatures
Unprecedented heatwaves on the East Coast and Midwest of the United States have caused the temporary closure of the Great American State Fair at the National Mall in Washington D.C. Additionally, the July Fourth celebrations have been postponed. In excess of 165 million Americans are currently suffering from unprecedented heatwaves, with cities such as Washington D.C. and Philadelphia predicted to experience temperatures up to 106°F (41°C). Although modifications are being made in order to ensure safety during the concerts and fireworks, America 250 Commission has decided to go ahead with the outdoor block parties celebrating the country’s 250 years of independence.
